Worldjamborees
A Worldjamboree is an international gathering where scouts from all over
the world meet each other every four years.
From all countries that offer to organise a Worldjamboree, one will be
chosen at the World Scout Conference approximately 8 years before that
Jamboree. Organising a Worldjamboree takes a lot. A Worldjamboree nowadays can
easy be compared with a large village. Not only regarding the number of
inhabitants, but also regarding the public facilities. In a Jamboree-village
you can find a supermarket, a bank, a post office, several souvenir shops,
restaurants and canteens, but also a hospital, a police station and facilities
like an internet café, call boxes etc. and in particular the catering for about
30.000 people. An enormous organisation, participated by hundreds of staff
members and youngsters. Not only the organising country takes care of the
performance of staff functions, but a large quantity of staff-members will be
supplied by the International Service Team (IST) where volunteers from the
participating countries are joined in.
