BEAVERS
(Hotsjietonia)
The story
|
|
The house Hotsjietonia from the World of Lange Doener will be closed, as all
inhabitants will go on a world tour with Willem Wereldreiziger. We meet
Stuiter, a child who can’t sit still for a second, and he takes us with him
to the Village Hotsjietonia, that appears to be near to the House
Hotsjietonia. In that village very nice people are living. For instance
brother and sister Steven and Sterre Stroom. They live on a boat and
sometimes they sail to some exiting places. Forester Bas Bos and his wife
Rebbel, who are always busy outside. The funny professor Plof and his dear
wife Rozemarijn, who loves plants and cooking. Fleur and Keet Kleur where you
can always help in a special art project. And finally Stanley Stekker and Noa.
Those two make you think and wonder, but you can also relax with them. And of
course there are several animals in Hotsjietonia. |

Wij zijn de bevers, en zingen dit lied Het liefst lekker hard, anders hoor je het niet Maar nu zijn we klaar, tot de volgende keer Dan zien we elkaar en dan zingen we weer. Law and promise
At the beavers in the village
Hotsjietonia there is a beaver promise, a beaver law and even a beaver motto. After
singing the opening song, the beaver law or the beaver motto is recited.
At the initiation the beavers say this beaver
promise, with the aid of a leader.
The beaver
law:
“I am a beaver, what beavers do,
we’ll do together”.
The beaver
motto:
“Play together, work together”.
The beaver
promise:
“I promise to do my best to be a
good beaver. Play together and share together.”
Uniform
|
|
With this new play the beavers got
a real blouse (red), just as the other age groups. Also the age group sign
was changed, it became a green badge with the image of Stuiter in it. This
sign is worn on the right pocket. The leaders wear the same color uniform as
the children. |
With this new play, the beavers
can also earn merit badges. These badges have 6 sides and have a character
from Hotsjietonia on it. There are no obliged demands to earn them, but the
leaders determine what the beavers have to learn or do. The only rule is,
that it has something to do with the features of this character. |

Other information
|
|
The beavers have their own
magazine, the Beverpost. With the new play there also came a new large beaver
guide: a book in A-4 format with rings on the short end. The total group of beavers was
called a colony and there were no subgroups. For leaders the beaver compass is
available, a somewhat square booklet. It also has rings at the side. It is
filled with practical suggestions and ideas for a challenging day. |

is always interested in "old" Dutch scouting stuff.
